The EU is investigating two Nike group companies to see if arrangements it made with the Dutch tax authorities breach EU rules on subsidising companies.
The issues relate to the licences for intellectual property rights. Between 2006 and 2015. the Dutch authorities issued five tax rulings on how to calculate royalty payments. The EU believes these rulings may not properly reflect the commercial reality.
The company says that it fully complies with tax laws and that the investigation is "without merit". [19.01]
