Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is trialling a biometric fob that will allow a customer to make a payment of up to £100 without using a card or mobile phone. Instead a fingerprint is used to verify transactions.
The technology is being tested with 250 customers between February and May 2020.
The fob is of the same size as a normal keyring fob. It has a green light which illuminates when a fingerprint has been successfully matched. The fob can be used at existing chip and pin terminals. [20.02]
